Hey Y’all,
We have been painting the interior walls this week for the first time since we opened! Lookin’ shiny and new. We also bolted the two wobbly front tables to the floor for your seating comfort. Speaking of seating, there is a beautiful new bench outside made from repurposed Southern Yellow Pine straight from Richmond. Flower boxes got some nice new calibrachoas that are going to cascade like a delicious draft beer. You want one?

Hi Y’all. On Sunday 4/7, we’ll be celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Cullen-Harrison Act which amended the Volstead Act, allowing beers below 4% abv to be manufactured in the U.S. This was the first baby step toward full repeal which happened at the end of the year. We’ve got 9 fantastic and rare session beers between 2.5% and 4.5% and for those that get here early, there’ll be delicious and cheap beef carbonnade as well!
There’s gonna be some seriously tasty snacks happening from 7pm onward. See the menu at bottom of this page!
Sunday 3/3, 10:00am til….(hopefully 11:30am?)
$1 Cask-conditioned pints with Spanish tortilla til we run out.
This fantastic, English-style subtle beauty will only be available at The Diamond all spring long! (regular price $6 on draft)
It’s a “Head to Head” competition! Pay just $10 in advance to see the Swillin’ Swines duke it out with the Green Groove Brewers. Your vote will decide who wins! Entry fee gets you a taste of homebrew and snack pairing from each team and the proceeds will be donated to the Greenpoint Reform Church Food Pantry.
It must be winter!
PIES FOR SANDY: A Sweet Relief Effort by Brooklyn Bouillon….DONATE INGREDIENTS AT THE DIAMOND
Perhaps pie isn’t what comes to mind when soup is on the agenda, but here at Brooklyn Bouillon, we’re big on holiday pie. Pies for Sandy is a sweet relief effort to bake an assortment of pies the day before Thanksgiving and to deliver the pies to those affected by Sandy on Thanksgiving morning. We invite you to join us! Here’s how you can participate:
DONATE
We’re looking for donations of pumpkins, apples and/or pecans for the pies. Brooklyn Bouillon will donate homemade pie dough, ancillary pie filling ingredients and aluminum pie tins. You can deliver the fruit and nuts toDiamond Bar (43 Franklin St, Greenpoint, Brooklyn) on Monday, November 19 through Wednesday, November 21, any time after 5pm. You can also bring donations to the bake event on Wednesday, November 21. If you’d like to donate but cannot make it to Diamond Bar or the baking session, please contact Rachael atrachael@brooklynbouillon.com or send a PayPal to rmamane@gmail.com. All donations will go directly to feeding those still affected by Sandy.
BAKE
We’ll be convening to assemble and bake the pies at a loft in Greenpoint (Brooklyn) on Wednesday, November 21, the day before Thanksgiving. You can deliver donations of pumpkins, apples and/or pecans on the day of the bake as well. In true Brooklyn Bouillon fashion, we’ll have a big pot of soup simmering to greet participants. After the bake, we’ll head to Diamond Bar for celebratory beer! Please contact Rachael atrachael@brooklynbouillon.com for the address of the baking session. We’d love for you to join!
DELIVER
We’ll be delivering pies to the Red Hook Initiative on Thanksgiving morning. We might also join in the distribution of pies around Red Hook. And if we have enough pies, we’ll broaden our reach for distribution. If you’d like to assist with delivery of the pies, please contact Rachael at rachael@brooklynbouillon.com. We’ll be sure to share a slice on Thanksgiving, too!
GRATITUDE
Thanks to Plovgh for providing resources and spreading the word, Diamond Bar for offering a home for donations and Red Hook Initiative for finding homes for the pies. And if you’re interested in learning more aboutBrooklyn Bouillon, including the launch of a monthly Foodshed Stocks CSA, please reach out to Rachael atrachael@brooklynbouillon.com.
mmmmm. Ground beef from the Meathook, delicious spices, topped with NY state cheddar and our house crostini. Come on now!
Tuesday 11/5, 7pm to Close, ELECTION NIGHT…20% of Sales Donated to The Redhook Initiative. Raised $362
Sunday 11/11, 5pm to 7pm, CHILI COOKOFF. Raised $1024
See coverage of this event at localbozo.com. $12 entrance fee got each patron a taste of 8 chilis, a pint of rare Austrian beer by the Hofstetten Brewery, and some great entertainment. On top of that, people kept plunking down more cash donations and that got us over $1000. Great job guys! Funds are being donated to either Team Rubicon or Occupy Sandy hurricane relief efforts….decision will be made this week. (11/12).
