We’ve got that yard in shape with new greenery, beautiful flowers and, of course, the ivy is back climbing across our walls.   Eat & drink your way to glory this spring!

6:30-8:30 Thursdays, Grilling Out EVERY WEEK

We are grilling up bratwursts in our backyard and they are delicious.  $5 for a big ol’ Pork King bratwurst with Dusseldorf mustard.

While you are here, check out quoits if you’ve got the nerve.  Let Kyle and I show you how to play.  If you’ve been frustrated by this game, don’t worry, it just takes a few minutes to get the right toss.  This is the predecessor to horseshoes…the original game for playaz.

$300 being sent to Tsunami Victims, straight from you

So, on 5/5 we made our weekly cookout into a fundraiser.  Rusty Ralston grilled up his Sega Bodega Dogs and we had a little help from the folks at Brooklyn Brine.  Thanks to these guys, the Diamond, and your patronage, $300 was raised and given to Americares Tsunami Fund.  Thanks!

Yard Friendly Beverages

Schneider Weisse and Southern Tier Hop Sun will be on draft in the next 10 days or so.  There they will remain for the bulk of the summer.  Woohoo!  We got an awesome Hungarian Roze wine coming later this week and a lovely New Zealand Pinot by the bottle as well.

Prom Mom (time to dance)

2010 June 16
by admin

Good Morning Friends,

We hope you’ve been well. Things here at the Diamond are lovely. It’s always 72 degrees and sunny. I got a haircut on Saturday. Here’s some other news:

PROM, THURSDAY NIGHT

The ladies from Word Bookstore have put together another great singles mixer here at the Diamond. Come make a love connection at the prom this Thursday from 8-10pm. $5 sangria and $4 select drafts. Our normal “third Thursdays” karaoke will be pushed back to next week, (6/24).

BEER

We’ve got Rodenbach Grand Cru on tap right now. It’s a lovely Flemish sour red ale with sharp acidity balanced by notes of earth, cherry, and honey. On cask, we’ve been running Sly Fox Chester County Bitter for quite some time. It is one of the best session beers going and if you’ve never had the chance, try it. The cask line will switch to an experimental batch of Brooklyn Pennant Pale ale soon. It’s very similar to the regular Pennant with a tad higher hopping level to make it more drinkable in the warm weather. Tried it at the brewery yesterday…very nice. If you are of the wine persuasion, try the Masserie Pisari Salento Rosso. It’s a brooding Italian red served cool. The Laurerlie Rose from Bergerac is dry and simple, a great bottle to share in the backyard!

CHEW N’ BREW III

Our 3rd annual Chew N’ Brew is in September so we are calling all amateur brewers and chefs to email Dave to sign up for the big competition. The rest of you regular civilians are in for a major treat. The city’s best homemade beers will be paired with delicious hors d’oeuvres for your sampling pleasure. Tickets are limited and will go on sale in August.

BUSHWICK INLET FUNDRAISER RECAP

As mentioned in a previous email, Diamond customers raised over $800 to be used to landscape the sidewalk area along the Bushwick Inlet. The more attention drawn to this section of W’burg/G’point the better the support for a future park here. The bad news is that the money will not be used this spring/summer for new plantings. Currently, there is no water source to maintain the area but, hopefully, by this fall, that issue will be resolved with the city. In the mean time, the dollars are sitting in a bank account waiting to be put to this specific use. Sorry for the delay…we’ll keep you posted on the progress.
